April 29, at Ha Long, Quang Ninh, a representative from the PCI team participated and delivered a presentation at the Conference “Tasks to be implemented for improving the business & investment environment and enhancing competitiveness of Quang Ninh in 2016”. The Conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh – People’s Committee Vice Chairman – Head of Investment Promotion Agency with participation of Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, Deputy Secretary of Quang Ninh Party Committee cum People’s Committee Chairman.
On April 14 in Quảng Ngãi: A representative from PCI Project participated and delivered a presentation named “Integration – Actions by Quang Ngai’s Government and Businesses” with such contents as integration trends and doing business in Vietnam, Quang Ngai’s PCI 2015 results and how and what to be prepared by Quang Ngai authorities and businesses for economic integration.
The meeting was jointly organized by Bac Ninh’s Provincial Party Committee (PPC), People’s Com and People’s Council with the participation of Mr. Nguyễn Nhân Chiến-PPC Secretary, other provincial leaders and representatives.
International organisation ActionAid Vietnam recently questioned the annual US$20-million loss of corporate tax income in Vietnam caused by the preferential tax system for foreign-invested enterprises, sparking a discussion on whether the generous treatment of those firms is justifiable.
The burden of unofficial costs is weighing on enterprises in Vietnam, and it is rising year by year. The bigger the businesses are, the more they are inspected by relevant bodies, found the PCI (provincial competitive index) survey in 2015 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
