Quang Ninh ranked 2nd in PCI rankings

This information was released by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) at a meeting held in Ha Noi this morning, March 14. 

Top five provinces and cities in the 2015 PCI rankings are Da Nang city, Quang Ninh province, Dong Thap province, Binh Duong province, Vinh Long province and Lao Cai province.


Quang Ninh Province saw a jump from the third position in 2015 to the second one with 65.60 points. Especially, five sub-indexes including business support index, labor training index, legal institution index, market entering index and time duration were said to improve considerably by the business community.

This resulted from the province’s hard and constant efforts to improve the environmental climate and increase the competitive capacity.


The PCI, first launched in 2005, aims to assess the ease of doing business, economic governance and administrative reform efforts of local governments of 63 provinces and cities in Viet Nam.

The 2016 PCI rankings is the voice of nearly 10,000 businesses in 63 provinces and cities nationwide. It reflected opinions of 1,584 foreign-invested enterprises operating in Viet Nam.

According to Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the encouraging 2016 PCI results signified the business community and foreign investors’ optimism about business and investment prospects and their positive views on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) potential for investment promotion and growth. All expressed their hope for stronger reforms in committed fields./.
